IT'S A CELEBRATION
TRAVEL GUIDE
We want you to make the most of your trip to Thailand, so here are a few places we recommend you visiting while you're visiting!

North Thailand
Chiang Mai
The cultural heart of Northern Thailand, known for its beautiful ancient temples, numerous elephant sanctuaries, and as a base for mountain trekking. It offers a relaxed atmosphere with lively night markets. Travel from Bangkok is very easy via a quick 1.5-hour flight or an overnight train/bus (10-14 hours). January temperatures are pleasantly cool and dry, with mild daytime highs around 30 degrees celcius.

South Thailand
Phuket
Phuket is Thailand's largest and most famous island, celebrated for its stunning beaches (like Patong and Kata), turquoise waters, vibrant nightlife, and as the primary gateway for boat trips to nearby islands like Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay. Travel from Bangkok is very easy and highly recommended by a 1.5-hour flight, which is far quicker than the 12-14 hour overnight bus journey. January temperatures fall in the hot, dry season, offering perfect beach weather with average highs around 32 degrees Celcius and comfortable sea temperatures near 28 degrees.

South Thailand
Krabi
Located just across the bay from Phuket, Krabi is a stunning coastal province known for its limestone cliffs that emerge from the turquoise Andaman Sea, particularly around Railay Beach and Ao Nang. It's the perfect spot for island-hopping (to places like the Phi Phi or Hong Islands), rock climbing, and enjoying picturesque, secluded beaches. Travel from Bangkok is fastest and easiest by a 1.5 hour flight to Krabi International Airport (KBV). The bus/train combination takes 10-12+ hours. January temperatures fall in the dry season, making for ideal beach weather with daily highs typically reaching 31 degrees Celcius.
Personally, Phuket is majorly touristy and a little overrun IMO, Krabi is much less overcrowded. I preferred it much more than Phuket.

South-West Thailand
Koh Chang
A short ferry is 1.5 hours drive from the wedding venue!
Koh Chang ('Elephant Island') is Thailand's third-largest island, known for its lush, mountainous interior within a national park, pristine waterfalls you can swim in, and beautiful, relatively less crowded beaches on the western side (like White Sand and Lonely Beach). It offers a more relaxed, nature-focused atmosphere than the major southern islands. The fastest way from Bangkok is a flight to Trat Airport (TDX) (approx. 1 hour) followed by a short transfer and ferry. January temperatures are perfect, marking the peak of the dry season with plenty of sunshine and average daytime highs around 31 degrees Celcius.

Central Thailand
Bangkok
Bangkok is Thailand's high-energy, bustling capital, famous for its majestic Grand Palace and temples (like Wat Arun and Wat Pho), world-class street food, massive modern shopping malls, and incredibly vibrant nightlife. My core recommendation would be to visit the Grand Palace, Jatujak (JJ) market, the leaning Bhudda, Wat Arun, Asiatique, KhaoSan Road, jump on a cheap boat taxi up/down the river, Yeowraat (Chinatown) road, and any of the floating markets. Getting around within the city is super easy using the efficient (and cheap) BTS Skytrain, MRT Subway, riverboats, and metered taxis.

Central Thailand
Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the historical former capital of Siam, famous for its magnificent archaeological park filled with the preserved ruins of gigantic temples and colossal Buddha statues. It offers a powerful step back into Thai history, and is easily explored by bicycle or tuk-tuk. Travel from Bangkok is very easy and makes for a popular day trip; options include a quick 1 to 1.5-hour minivan ride or a scenic, inexpensive 1.5 to 2-hour train journey. In January, the city enjoys the cool, dry season, with pleasant daytime highs around 32 degrees Celcius. Best for those intereted in ancient ruins. Perhaps best or just a day trip.
